Ontario Place is an internationally acclaimed cultural, leisure and entertainment parkland located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The complex extends throughout three man-made islands along the Lake Ontario waterfront and has lots of rides, attractions and entertainment.

Ontario Place opened in May 1971 and featured a five pod pavilion complex, The Forum, pedal boats, a marina, restaurants and the world's first permanent IMAX® theatre, the Cinesphere.  

Ontario Place Facts

  • Ontario Place was built as a showcase for the Province of Ontario that would replace the Government of Ontario building at the CNE and take advantage of what was then an under-developed waterfront area
  • Construction started on March 17, 1969 and took an estimated 1.5 million person hours of labour to build at a cost of M
  • The original park was consisted of three man-made islands connected by picturesque bridges and walkways with the Pods or Pavilion, complex and the geodesic dome of the Cinesphere as the focal points
  • The park initially encompassed 96 acres of which 51 acres were land fill
  • The gate first opened to the public on May 22, 1971

Via Public Transportation

Free shuttle from Union Station to Ontario Place!

Runs daily from 8:30am to 8:30pm.

Pick Up times
The shuttle bus picks up from Union Station starting at 8:00 a.m.
and every half hour from then on. The shuttle picks up at Ontario Place at 8:15 a.m. and then every half hour from then on.

PICK UP LOCATION AT UNION STATION:
The pickup location at Union Station is on the south side of Front street at the clock which is located at the exit of Union station. There will be signage in the area further indicating the exact pickup location.

PICK UP LOCATION AT ONTARIO PLACE:
Outside of Centre entrance on Remembrance Drive, just east of Centre entrance, and south of Lot 2 parking exit arms. The area has signage indicating that it is a shuttle bus stop.

Look for the bright red trolley and ride for free!

 

Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is Toronto's subway, streetcar and bus system.

To get to Ontario Place via TTC:
Take the Bloor subway to Bathurst Station, then the Bathurst 511 streetcar south to Exhibition Place. You will then have to walk south through the Exhibition grounds, over the Lakeshore bridge and into Ontario Place.


From Wilson Station or Dufferin Station take the Dufferin 29 Bus South. This bus will take you to the Dufferin Gates at the north/west corner of Exhibition Place. From there it is a 10 minute walk across the grounds to Ontario Place.


From Union Station take the Harbourfront 509 Streetcar to Exhibition Place. You will then have to walk south through the Exhibition grounds, over the Lakeshore bridge and into Ontario Place.

GO TRANSIT is Toronto and the surrounding area's rail system leading into the core of the city.

Take the GO Train to Exhibition Place stop, then walk south through the Exhibition grounds, over the Lakeshore bridge and into Ontario Place.

Driving Directions

From the East
Take the Gardiner Expressway and get off at the Spadina Ave Exit, drive west along Lakeshore Blvd and follow signs to Ontario Place.

From the West
Take the Gardiner Expressway and get off at the Jameson Ave exit and follow Lakeshore Blvd. eastbound to Ontario Place.
